His own story
started with neck pain.
Before chiropractic, Michael Swartztrauber was a professional musician. After falling asleep in an awkward position on a bus ride home from a performance, he developed severe neck pain.
A visit to his mother’s chiropractor changed his direction. The experience inspired him to return to school and pursue the same work for others.

A familiar city.
A personal calling.
Dr. Swartztrauber has called Houston home since age five. He attended T.H. Rogers Middle School and the High School for Performing and Visual Arts as a violinist, then studied music at North Texas State and completed pre-med coursework at the University of Houston.
He received his professional degree from Texas Chiropractic College in 1989. His career has also included teaching at his alma mater and writing State Board Examination questions for the State of Texas, as described in his current biography.
THE LIFE BEYOND THE SYMPTOMS
The things
that matter to you.
Dr. Swartztrauber describes a particular interest in difficult, persistent spine concerns: problems that have interrupted a person’s time, routines, and enjoyment of life.
The activities that matter are personal. They might be playing with children, a round of golf, or an evening walk with a spouse. Those are the kinds of goals he writes about in his approach to care.

BEYOND THE CLINIC
Still making things.
Still making music.
Outside the clinic, his interests include art, design, and music. To relax, he builds furniture and plays guitar.
